After starting The Game of Life the opportunities started to present themselves on a daily basis, which was to be expected. Wherever you firmly point your attention to and add some fuel called emotions, becomes your reality. We will talk more about this important topic throughout our Dares, as it is one of the main backbones of The Game of Life.

Ok, let’s get to today’s Dare… A couple of days ago we went to a clothing store where I was trying on some clothes. In the meanwhile Even was chatting with the salesgirl. They saw each other the first time, but somehow they connected very quickly, which was pretty out of ordinary. After I was done, Even invited the salesgirl to our house for a drink, which is also very strange for such occasions. So yesterday she called Even and they agreed that she’ll come for a drink in the evening.

The bell rang, I opened the door and there was the salesgirl (we call her “salesgirl” for privacy purposes)…. and her child, which of course was a surprise. Usually people if they are invited for an evening drink, come alone. Anyway, we didn’t mind her bringing the kid, as he was a very good boy…  for a while. After two hours he became more familiar with us, so he started to show his real potential 😉

He broke a couple of small things, nothing serious though, other than that he was watching TV for an hour or so and than fell asleep. We had a couple of drinks and the salesgirl started to talk about how she is going through some financial issues and that she has to have two jobs etc… She also told us, that she is from Russia, so the boy would only understand Russian and very little English. What came as a bullet was her question after telling us her financial story – she asked if the 5-year-old boy could stay with us for the night, because she urgently has to work that night. She said the boy is used to staying with a babysitter, so he won’t be of any trouble. We asked her why she hasn’t told us anything before, but she replied that she’s forgotten about it… hmm… ok… We looked at each other and knew right away that this would be something new and crazy for both of us… and definitely far outside our comfort zone… far far away… so we said yes and agreed with him staying for the night. She promised she will pick him up around 9 the next morning, after she finishes her shift. We asked what kind of job it was, but she was very discreet about it so we just dropped it as we didn’t want to investigate any further.

After she tucked in her boy in our guest bedroom and left, we discussed what we just did – taking a role of a babysitter for someone we do not know AT ALL. Especially after the story about two jobs, one being an overnight job, we said let’s just keep our thoughts positive and go with the flow. This is NOT what we would usually do… at all. This morning El woke up around 7am and prepared some tea and breakfast for the boy in case he would wake up early. He got up a couple of minutes later and said that he has to go to the toilet. El was asking himself why he would say that, the toilet was right next to his bedroom. After a minute he got his answer – the boy called him to clean him up! El has never done something like this before, so for him it was a bit off-putting, especially doing it for a child he didn’t know… Of course he was laughing to himself and thought about what I will say when I hear about it. After the cleaning part the boy had breakfast. He was eating like he wouldn’t have had food for a couple of days. After breakfast the boy went to where El was working on some project and lay down on his knees! Of course El was shocked. When I woke up and saw the boy lying on El’s legs on the sofa, I was startled as well. When I wanted to talk to the boy, I saw that he was asleep.

It was already 30 minutes past 9 am and the salesgirl still hasn’t called, so I gave her a call with no reply. After an hour I tried again with no success. After another 2 hours the boy was still asleep and his mother still hasn’t returned the call. Slowly we started worrying that she left the kid on purpose – we must admit that it was not a very enjoyable moment. The boy woke up around 3pm, after sleeping through the night for straight 10 hours. We knew right away that he must be tired, so El tried to get some information from the boy… fortunately El speaks Russian, so he asked him where his mother went and the boy said, that she does is very often and that he is always staying with strangers. But he didn’t know where she went, except that she had to work. The boy was very quiet the whole day. He was drawing and watching TV, doing what he was used to do every day, as he later explained. It was already 6pm and I tried to call the salesgirl again. No luck. We really thought she’s left the boy with us for good.

Finally after another hour she called and came to pick up her boy. Of course she was ashamed and even couldn’t look us in the eyes. When we asked what the hell happened, she only said that she had to work. She looked frightened and extremely tired, so we only told her to take good care of the boy and that this is not the way the boy should be treated. El called a taxi and escorted them to the car, as the boy’s mother could barely walk.

As you can see today’s Dares was not very enjoyable, but what matters most, is how you react to every single challenge in your life. If you can look at it as an opportunity for you to learn, than you are on your way to mastering your life. No challenge is an accident or coincidence. Everything that appears in our lives has a meaning and it’s up to us to figure it out and solve the puzzle 😉
