We all have bodies and we all have feelings and emotions. If emotional nakedness would get as much attention as physical nakedness, we’d be happy all the time. Often people put feelings and emotions into the same basket. Now while they are certainly similar, there are some distinguishing differences we really should know about if we’re serious about living a positive and happy life.

Put simply: Feelings are how we feel in the moment. Emotions are past unresolved feelings. Because our emotions are linked to our physical bodies, using our body to express and diffuse our emotions can be incredibly helpful. Why? You see, as children we cried and it was ok, we fell over and it was ok to get upset, we enjoyed running around naked and it was ok. Then as we started to get older and we were taught that expressing yourself isn’t acceptable behavior, so we started to suppress our feelings in order to fit in. The problem is, just like a beach ball that gets pushed under water, eventually it has to come up, and usually with a big splash.

So with all this understanding how feelings and emotions are connected and how they affect our bodies, today we did the opposite thing. This time we were naked for the whole day just to feel what kind of feelings the body releases in such moments. If you never tried it before, we encourage you to try it, really. We can assure you it’s the most liberating thing you can experience.

Firstly, this morning I spent 20 minutes in the bathroom, looking and encouraging myself that my body is beautiful. Yes, I know it’s stupid, we were doing this dare alone and El saw me naked million times, but when you know that you will spend a whole day like this, it’s your own acceptance you must handle. Being feminine in our society we often struggle to accept the appearance of our body. And yet I ask myself what in the world is wrong with us? Why is it so hard for us to love ourselves unconditionally? So I lifted my head and started the day naked! :}

First, we did our daily meditation, then enjoyed breakfast and coffee and because we were looking at each other the whole time, we noticed that we were smiling constantly. We did some daily things on our own and after a while I felt we should move around more. And so, I suggested to clean our apartment, regardless of the fact that we are indeed nude! At first El said “Nope, I will not do the cleaning like this, it can be too unpleasant and uncomfortable.” Ha, ha, let me tell you one thing, we all can do everything naked as much as we can do while being dressed, period. It’s just a mindset. So, after a few deep breaths, we did the “naked cleaning.” At first it was a bit weird and funny, but after a while I became so comfortable that I started enjoying “being in my body” and El felt the same fillings.

Today we realized, that we are perfect just as we are, and SO ARE YOU. Make healthy lifestyle choices to nurture your body, mind and spirit, and remember: Self-Love is the BEST healthy lifestyle choice!
